I have a new guilty pleasure: Busty Girl Comics by Rampage

Today, she’s posted her 100th comic outlining the problems and some perks that the more endowed lady experiences, from suffering the usual objectification to finding alternate uses, such as kitten holders. While it does air the plight of Busty Girls, it’s usually instructive and always funny.

And it has boo- (WHACK) Ow! What? I’m a guy. I don’t stare, but I’m gonna look!

Art is stylized but consistent.
Updates several times a week.
Content is pretty much safe across the board, but may be over the heads of young children and boorish men.

Encore Seraphine

I’m sometimes asked (accused of even) if my own comic is produced using Second Life. That really is the case for Encore Seraphine. Seraphine Khorana can often be found seeking out the more unique sites in Second Life, then taking virtual photos to produce a comic full of irony and surreal introspection on topics of life, love, current events, and other crazy things. Sera holds nothing sacred. While there aren’t a whole lot of belly laughs, you do often find yourself prodded into thinking. Introspective humor if you will.

Sera describes it as:

A Web Comic that explores relationships and life’s great *mysteries from the unique perspective of a goth fashion model. It’s a journal-like mixture of my Real Life and Second Life experiences. If you can’t tell which is which, neither can I, at least not always.

Encore Seraphine has been updating since 2007, so there’s a good size archive, and you’ll want to read it all in one sitting. Maybe twice.

Safe for Work, unless you work for a real tight ass
OK for Teens
Of no interest to young children, but you probably shouldn’t show it to them.

Not a comic, I’m still sort of ramping up here. One of the things I wanted to do was have sample comics for reviews, and they haven’t been coming.

Between Failures

J.T.’s “Between Failures” is no “Clerks” knock-off or “retail-is-hell” story.

JT describes it: “Between Failures is a slice-of-life webcomic following the (somewhat under-motivated and decidedly sarcastic) staff of a chain bookstore. The primary protagonist is Thomas Blackwell, but it cuts to follow many members of the staff. It’s often compared to clerks, though up to the second volume only 2 customers have actually been shown.” (It’s actually a lot more like Empire Records, which the author totally suggests you see.) “The main focus are the characters and the shenanigans they come up with to keep themselves entertained.”

I found the stories engaging and the characters easy to believe, with very little reliance on stereotypes. The art is neat and consistent; there’s not a huge variation between how characters look in the beginning than now, and this is a comic that started in 2007.

Tales include a love story, sibling rivalry, nerd girls, and at least one ghost hunt.

The comic updates frequently and has a sizable archive.

Safe for work.
OK for teens.
Not the least bit interesting to young children.

Wireheads

Jimbo (Jim Hillin) is another web comic friend of mine. Wireheads is his baby.

Wireheads covers the antics of a fictional Hollywood CGI shop (which is what Jimbo actually does for a living). “Geeks, visual effects, and Hollywood blondes. It’s all TRUE!” he declares.

Tales cover a panic driven weekender, a new boss, an office assistant that’s very flexible about her duties, and a suffering office-manager-slash-den-mother.  And explosions. And did I mention the bunnies? Evil zombie dreamworld bunnies!

Check it out!
